Understanding e filing

Efiling 632 views 1 replies

I want to understand the E Filing Procedure.

I have heard it consists of following steps,

1. Download ITR in excel form, enter details, create XML and upload it. What does this step signify.

2. Post /Submit the acknowlegement created after completing step 1 above. What does this step signify. If I have already uploaded all my details, why do i need to send a seperate acknowledgement.

3. What happens after i post/submit my acknowlegement. Do i get any reply? And what is going to be the ultimate document/proof that i have submitted my ITR. And what ensures that i put all my details correctly in iTR?

Also, where does the Digital signature part come in? What is it exactly.

Regards,

Amit

The steps u have understood are correct.

1. When u upload the details of your IT return after creating XML, u are submitting the full details of your income tax return to the department.

2. When u upload, the summary of the same is generated in a doc called ITR V. U have to declare that the details submitted by you are true and correct. This ITR V after signature is to be sent to CPC bangalore.

3. When u send the ITR V, the CPC sends u a email acknowledging the receipt of the ITR V.  U have to ensure that all details are correctly entered in ITR.

4. Steps 2 and 3 above can be skipped if u sign the return before uploading with a digital signature. Digital signature is exactly what the name suggests!. ur signature in a digital form. It consists of a unique combination of digits which is related to you by some means like ur PAN etc.

If u sign digitally, there is no need to send the ITR V to Bangalore.

Good day :-)
