Types of shares

Promoters of a company would like to add new shareholders into the company. Promoters would like to hold higher voting rights than the new shareholders being added. Are there different classes of shares that the company can issue to its promoters and shareholders? Can the voting rights be associated with the number and class of shares held by a person?

The new issue of shares can be shares with differential voting rights.

The voting rights of this particular series of share issue can be lower than the normal equity shares. You may refer to the documents of Tata Motors which has issued shares with differential voting rights, which are listed and traded on the stock exchanges.
