Hostel fees is not allowed. Only tuition fees is allowed.
and may i know, how much amount u r paying as tuition fees.,

hi Kamal ,
As per the definition any expenditure incurred towards the tution fee is eligible for deduction i.e., in the form of library fee, laboratory fee as such and not the expenditure of hostel and accommodation.

As per IT Act
sec 80 C - as tuition fees (excluding any payment towards any development fees or donation or payment of similar nature), whether at the time of admission or thereafter,
(a) to any university, college, school or other educational institution situated within India;
(b) for the purpose of full-time education of any of the persons specified in sub-section (4);
Reading the Act plainly may tempt us to claim but I don't think hostel fees paid will be eligible.....

Dear Kamal , agree with others, hostel fees is not covered.
BUT u can ask your employer (if any) to restructure your salary to include hostel allowance of children, which u can claim exemption upto Rs.300 per month u/s 10(14) per child, max 2 children......
