AS per section 139(1) "every company shall appoint an individual or firm as an auditor who shall hold office from the conclusion of that meeting till the conclusion of its sixth agm and therafter till the conclusion of every sixth meeting..."

Dear Abhisekh,

Company can appoint auditor for less than 5 years but it is treated as one term, company losses maximum time provided under act to have the auditor.

Agree with Prakash ji.....no problem in appointing auditor for a term less than 5 years......
