Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies whether Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) needs to be applied to supplier debit notes. Generally, TDS is required on specific payments as per the Income Tax Act. If a debit note is raised, for instance, to correct an invoice by adding a missing item or adjusting rates, TDS under Section 194Q may be applicable. Tax must be deducted at source when the payment for the debit note is made.

TDS deducted on certain payment and receipts , as per section 192 to section 206 Income tax 1961 .

What for the debit note is raised?

Supplier forgot to add one item in invoice for that raised rate different debit note.?

If so, you need to deduct tax at source u/s 194q even on this.

Check out conditions for deduction TDS under 194 Q of IT act .
TDS is required on payment and while you pay the amount of debit note , same is required to be deduct.
