Taxation vs Audit during articleship

Hello everybody... I got a call from ey to attend the final round of interview.. It seems there is vacancy only in taxation service line... Is it better to join taxation dept during articles? will dat give me enough exposure?

Yes. Its good to have knowledge of taxation for handling assignments related to Mergers and Acquisitions. You can get exposure on various specific situations which govern the M&A transactions only on account of taxation issues. Kindly go ahead ....

if you want to be a tax expert after you become a CA i think it would be wise to join E&Y ( Taxation ), But if that is not the case then i guess it will be better to join a smaller firm and learn all the basic stuff then after a year may be choose which field you would like to continue. During Articleship you have to study all subjects and if you dont get practicle experience in all fields you will not be able to get good hold of the subject. It will be better to learn the theory and perform practically aswell.

yes..go ahead with E & Y..

taxation department knowledge will help you in studying for Final C.A. in direct taxes. Also after becoming qualified, if you intend to practice, the exposure from articleship in taxation department will also be of immense help.

hello Everyone,

I got a call from MNC for tax analyst post bascially there will be indirect taxation work..should i join? i am going to write IPCC in may 2011 and Cs executive 2nd group in dec 2010..but i have time i want to utilise that...as there will be only 5 days work...should i go there ? and i also got offer from E&Y for same post but in direct taxation...what should i opt? direct taxation or indirect taxation? MNC or E&Y? which will help me in future during my articleship? i think work pressure will be more than MNC so that i couldn't get time for my study...what do you think?
