Dear Nidhi,

Plz specify:-

1) WHO HAS MADE THE PAYMENT, EMPLOYER or EMPLOEE

2) TAXABLE IN THE HANDS OF EMPLOYEE OR DRIVER??

3) AMOUNT OF SALARY..

WHAT DO U MEAN BY PAID THRU VOUCHER?? CASH OR CHEQUE

Thanks for the prompt response.

The driver's salary is paid by the employer through voucher towards an employee's benefit

it's taxable in the hands of employee

amt of driver's salary paid by the company = Rs. 7,500/- p.m. & employee's basic is Rs 1 lac p.m.

if the car is used both for official and personal purpose then rs.7500-rs.600 i.e. rs.6900/- p.m. will be taxable and if car is used only for personal purpose then whole rs.7500/- will be taxble in the hane of employee.

Yes, As correctly said Mr. Pramod Jain...

In any case, whether car owned by employee or by company or for any other third case... the maximum amount to be considered for deduction from amount paid to drifer is Rs. 600.... (If and only if the car is used for official purpose).....

If vehicle is used for private purpose only, then Rs. 7500 will be considered as income of the employee

I think with New Perquisite Rules the amount of Deduction has been raised to Rs. 900

yeh u r right amir, but actually i don't know from which asst year new prerquisite rules will be applicable if it is applicable in current asst yr then only rs.900 will be taxable.,

Dear Pramod,

these rules r applicable from FY 2009-10 i:e AY 2010-2011

Dear All,

Thanks a lot for quickly resolving my query.

I  m doing an internal audit assignment in an upcoming hotel

i want to know whether the carpentory expenses incurred shall be capitalized under the head of furnitures or shall it be a part of building for claiming depriciation

kindly refer a case law if any for the same.

Hi rinki, according to Cerda, DC IL, 4/30/84,.., carpentry expenses is not to be considered as REVENUE EXPENSES and not to be capitalised at the time of reconstruction.....

And as per very logical thinking, if at the time of construction, such carpentry expenses should be considered under FUNITURE & FIXTURES.....
