A/c entries 7499 views 5 replies

I've five fixed deposits of different time periods with different interest rates in same bank. Quartly interest of two FDs are credited to the savings account in same bank. So, should I create different ledgers for each fixed deposit, and savings account under Bank Accounts group? Please advice.

Gopan,

It would be better if u make five different FD ledgers with FD A/c no.s, as it will help u to know the actual FD value at the time of its maturity, and regarding the interest directly credited into your bank, you have to open saving bank A/c ledger under bank A/c's for sure.

Thank you!

I created Bank SB account ledger under Bank Accounts group, and Bank FD account ledger under Deposits group. Now, when I try to transfer the amount from Bank account to FD account using contra entry, the screen doesn't shows the FD account in the list of accounts. So, please suggest the proper transaction for opening a new FD account.

FD will be created under the head investments and you have to pass receipt entry for the interest received directly into bank and journal entry for accrued interest.

Regards,

Dear Sir,

When i create FD ladger in Tally ERP 9 there is no option for FD A/c no, Intrest rate & Address column. for this option there is any internal setting please suggest

Dear Ram,

Pls note that there is no internal setting for the FD interest rates, but you can add the FD a/c no in the ledger itsef and address too.
