I m saying suspension of articles not termination.

Even suspension is allowed only on medical grounds

 U can not join articleship form ur first employer within 50 K.M. But u take article secondment any other employer. if ur employer agree.

You can terminate artcle for medical grounds,and can not join in another firm within 50km from previous employer.

YES U CAN SUSPEND YOUR ARTICLESHIP FOR ANY TIME AND BY ANY REASON AND U CAN AGAIN JOIN ANY OTHER FIRM, BUT THE PERIOD OF YOUR SUSPENSION WILL NOT BE RECKONED AND U CAN JOIN OTHER FIRM AFTER SUSPENSION PERIOD ONLY AS PER RULES OF ICAI I.E., NOT IN THE SAME CITY ETC........

Now, answering to your query, YES, you can suspend your articleship on your own will which will be equal to leaving Chartered accountancy .

Furthur, if you wish to RE-JOIN your articleship it can be so continued but such continuance of articleship is prohibited within the same city because that will deem to be a "Transfer of articleship within the same city"

Now the question is as to why it is so consider. this is so because the Re-Jioned articleship is not with a new joinee,

yes u can take suspention from articleship for 3-5 months and u have to submit form 109 for taking transfer with reason of transfer
