STPI and tax implications

147 views 1 replies

Hi everyone,

I am confused about STPI. I read that it is applicable for only 10 years.

  1. Does that mean after 10 years they need to pay tax?

  2. Why is STPI reporting done if tax holiday is already over?

  3. Is GST appplicable for them?

Thanks in advance!

  • Tax Holiday: Expired for most units in 2011; regular corporate tax now applies.

  • Reporting: Still mandatory for SOFTEX filing, which is essential for FEMA/RBI compliance regarding your export earnings.

  • GST: Applicable, but software exports are "zero-rated," allowing for potential tax refunds or credits on your inputs.
