Sebi not reviewing share margin system

Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday said that market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is not considering a review of the share margin requirement system. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, the finance minister said the prevailing risk management system was found to be robust during the recent volatility witnessed in the stock market.

Hi..margin is a very important bcoz..In order to contain the risk arising out of transactions entered into by the members in various scrips either on their own account or on behalf of their clients the Exchange has a well designed risk-management system which inter-alia, includes collection of margins from the members.
