Hi, Im Varun. I took up Science in PU and once i cleared, i changed my mind to take up commerce and persue CA. Since i had no foundation in Accountancy, i thought of completing 1 yr of b.com n then writing CPT. This yr im gonna complete b.com. Im not so good at accounts as of now since my foundation isnt strong but i can study and do well in accounts.

Do u think i can do well in my coming CA exams? What can i do to make my basics strong? Can somebody refer me some good books which can make my accounts basics strong?

Please help me out. I know there are so many science students out there who have excelled in CA. Please reply.

Yes, Dear U can do well in CA...

For that u required to do regular study. And I think u joined CA and will appear for CPT..so join coaching for CPT...

For Account There are so many books available in market...Actually i don know the name of books specially for CPT students ...but i suggest Padhuka, P C Tulsian, Other Basic Volumes For Account...

As u are from science stream, u will have no problem in Maths & Stats...

For Economic u required to read only there is no other technique ...u can prepare ur own notes that wud be help u at exam time...

For management & Law, u required to prpr this subject with practile aspects...remember  imp provisions & points  and list down the same....

All The Best...

take accounts books of 11th and 12th class to make your base strong......iff required take cpt coachings.

Dear Varun,

I m also a science stream student and i took CA profession right after my boards. Our dear friend Priya is right that u should try to solve basics of accounts from 11th and 12th Accounts Books. You should not worry about taking this profession as the more u grow in this u will become more furnished in the field of accounts. In my view u should  go CPT tution for Accounts as it will help u a lot.

Thanks a lot Ketan Joshi, Priya and Rahul mishra for your replies. As per your suggestions, ill read Pu accounts books. I had attended Cpt coaching and it was benificial, specially Accounts since it gave me an idea what accountancy is all about but still i fluncked in cpt by getting 91 marks last time. I hope i clear this time. I wanted to ask you guys something about cpt. Is it enough if im confident with all the questions in the question bank provided by ICAI? I.e 20+10 questions? + some questions from the text as well.. Will i clear cpt with that?

I am indeed a science student in my 11,12 standards. I studied 11th,12th standard accounts and economics in holidays in a private tution.

So my suggestion is study the basic books of 11th,12th standard. If possible get a private tutor. Later refer other books

questions from question bank will be asked but not the entire 200questions will be those. If you learn those questions you may pass cpt with minimal knowledge but u cant pursue further studies
