I am a practising chartered accountant. I also work with the firm and draw professional fees from that firm which is already registered under GST. Am I covered under compulsory registration ???

no. if your turnover is less than 20 lakh. you are not required.
if you receive professional fees from the firm, which is from other state, then you are required.
