Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate applicable to loading and transport charges under the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM). It explains that typically, RCM is paid at 18% for transport services, with the option to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) in the following month. However, if loading charges are billed as part of a composite supply by a Goods Transport Agency (GTA), the 5% rate may apply as the principal supply is the GTA service.

You have to pay RCM @ 18% and take ITC in next month

Why you hv to pay??
In the company I work, we pay 5% on transport by GTA and claim total input on eligible transactions. You'd only have to pay RCM for loading if it is billed in the consignment note issued by the GTA.
Where the GTA has given the Bill for Transportation & loadings charges it is cover under composit supply (Section 8) & the principal supply is GTA services. Hence 5% is applicable.
