Problem during e-filing ITR online

Today i was trying to fill online ITR but why it is asking for .JSON file attachment, I have been filing online ITR from last 5 years but never before directly ask for .JSON file. is the website updating now ?

 

Secondly, I do not want to go through with .JSON file download and then upload process, i want simple process as it was before. is it possible ?

If you're trying to e-file your Income Tax Return (ITR) and are being asked for a .JSON file attachment, don't worry, it's a recent change for certain forms. For Assessment Year 2022-23, ITR-1 and ITR-4 now require a .JSON file upload when filing online. The online filing mode for AY 2023-24 is expected to be available from late May or early June.

Dear Kuldeep, what year are you filing for ? If it is for AY 2022-23 system will accept JSON only and for AY 2023-24 online mode will start from May end or first week of June

Dear Kuldeep, now Income-tax Returns Form ITR 1 and ITR 4 are enabled at the portal in Online mode with prefilled data.
