I am totally depressed as to what to do next. I have no motivation to study at all because of this issue.

I have a exemption in ISCA (71) for group 2.

below is my preparation for group 2:

1. Finished QT part of costing. Planning to leave Standard costing altogether and concentrate on other chapters.

2. Finised case laws and a bit of Valuation Proceedures in IDT

3. Finished Wealth Tax only in DT

WRT group 1

1. Finished IFM in Starategic Financial Management. I am a bit good at understanding share markets and financial jargons. I used to watch lot of documentries and read economist regularly. I love this part of the CA syllabus. But wrt exams not prepared on this subject well, though.

2. Auditing is one subject I dont fear much. Went to Vikas Oswal classes. A 2 day solid peparation is all I need to pass.

3. Financial Reporting is not my cup of tea when it comes to exams. I read the misc accounts chapter (EVA, SVA, MVA, Human resources accounting etc) some time ago. Other than that I dont have much Knowledge about this subject

4. Law is the subject I  dread the most. No matter how much I read end of the day i seem to forget all.

Now my question is should I opt for both groups or only group 2? Since I laready have 71 in ISCA it is enough for me to get 45 in each subject and clear the group. Will I be able to work on Group 1 in the remaining 35 days? Are the subjects easy enough to be cleared with just 35 days of solid preparation. I really want to clear both groups this time and move back with my family. Am I being practical in trying to clear both groups?

Please help me. I am really going mad over this issue.

Look Aishwarya,U got 71 in ISCA which is not a normal thing..U did soo well....But y did u left sooo much syllabus still uncovered....U can clear both groups easily with that 71 in ur pocket...(But only if u start studying seriously)....Take up each subject...finish chapters one by one based on weightage of marks...if u feel that  not much time is left atleast finish the problems in practice manual and RTPs of all subjects...Make some summary of all chapters(Formulas, some rules or rates in Law,DT,IDT) and that summary is to be revised many times at the end of preparation so that u can recall all main points in the exam ...so SUMMARY IS MUST...!!

Finally,As a safety measure its better u take some extra care for group 2 like some extra hours, extra revision,....Thats it...

Challo, start from tommorro Group 2 Put a target of some 10-12 days and finish almost all chapters and then only if u were  serious in group 2 ,go for group ..

I guess u will start things from tomorrow with some enthusiasm to kick it off....

Aishwarya, I can understand what you are going through, but at the mean time request you to please look at life more realistically, so that the month of July can be very memorable and sweet.

Firstly, congrats for having secured 71 marks in ISCA paper and this in fact is a good score, which many students yearn for. This should motivate you to perform well in the ensuing examination and get a prefix before your name.

If you appear in both groups you ought to score on average 47 marks which is quite possible and when you appear in both groups, you also get the benefit of set-off as well, this must be the driving force for you to consider taking up both group and performing reasonably well.

You can probably, give more importance to group 2 as you require on average 43 marks only. This is an excellent opportunity for you to get the prefix CA in this attempt, so try to give in your best and surely, you will come out with flying colors.

Since, I see passion in your voice in terms of qualifying in this attempt and getting back to your family, this is another reason, which should galvanize you to give your best and make your family feel proud.

Think positive, believe in your abilities and give the best out of you in this attempt, surely your efforts will bring you the desired results.

Wishing you, a very happy Holi and let the festival of colors fill your life with more joy and accolades.

Best wishes

Sathish

Thanks a lot everyone. This surely did give me lot of ideas and motivation to go for both groups. So for now my plan is to concentrate more in group 2 and give my best shot in group 1. Have to come up with a good timetable now.

Hi Friends

I have worked out a timetable for IDT and Costing covering most of the chapters. Direct Tax is what I am most afraid of. Here is my plan for the DT. Please review and let me know if I can clear the paper with this level of preparation.

Direct Tax laws:

1.     Complete all case laws provided by ICAI

2.     Read the supplementary study Paper issued by ICAI

3.     Complete wealth tax

4.     Read the RTP and Suggested answers for last 2 years

5.     Complete the current RTP

6.     Read as much as I can from the Revision class notes provided by R.SoumyaNarayanan. (The books says it covers 60-70% of marks)

Will these be sufficient to give a good show in the paper and get around 50 marks?

Please let me know your valuable suggestions.

In addition the importance of latest practice manual should be borne in mind.

But wouldn't that be too much again? Practise manual as such is very voluminous. It runs around 600 pages I think. I don't think I have that much time. I am only aiming for 50 marks. Can I skip Practise Manual?

its better to go through practice manual atleast once..

because sometimes..problems come directly fromt the practice manual..

so please dont avoid practice manual....just go through it once..it wont take much time...

Ok then. I will visit practise manual too.

Aishwarya, it would be too costly to ignore Practice Manual, because the latest trend indicates the importance of questions asked from there. Please also understand even if someone reads all 600 odd pages from it, is not guaranteed a pass mark. Quality studies will give you confidence and enable you to perform well. You need to use the material smartly and it is not about how many pages you read, but much you understood from the pages you read.
