Please Help-E filing problem

Efiling 3179 views 13 replies

This is my first attempt at e-filing and I need help.

After entering the data for A.Y. 2011-12,when I clicked on "Save XML",a message flaashed that the XML file has been saved to "C:\DOCUMEN 1\MRB275~1.SUN\......etc" but when I checked in "C" drive,no file had been saved.I tried repeatedly(entering data afresh each time) but the same error occurs each time,i.e.,the XML file does not get saved.I have tried entering the data thro' Firefox as well as I.E. but the end result is the same.

What is the problem?Am I doing something the wrong way? Many thanks for all your kind assistance.

Dear Sharmaji,

I tried all the 3 methods that you have suggested but to no avail.I am not able to locate the saved XML File.Could you please suggest any other alternative? It's really frustrating. Thanks for your support.

start>search>all files and folders>all files and folders>all or part of the file name [put *.xml in the box] and press search

Absolutely no luck.Have tried everyrthing but God knows where the XML file gets saved.I tried 25 times but each time there is no trace of where it gets saved though the utility shows the msg that it has been saved in "C;\DOCUME~1\MRB275~1.SUN\LOCALS~1\Temp.......".Can any expert in computers please solve this mystery????

try once again to save a dummy with diff name, the saving path would show u the folder ( i think its system or hidden folder, thats why its not showing u in general)

Change the saving settings in your excel. The saved file should be saved on the desktop and not in the temporary folder. Then when you save the file, the file will be saved on the desktop and not in the temporary folder.

In most computer, these local setting folders are hidden, so you go in the C drive, enable to see hidden files/folder. Then you will be able to view local setting folders. Enter and go to temp folder, you will find your file there under some RAS something. Let me know what happenes.

Dear Sharma,

I tried with different names and PAN but each time the xml file gets saved in the same path but the saved file is not traceable.I agree with you that it must be in some hidden Folder but how do I view it and upload?

Dear  Mihir,

Many thanks for your inputs. My apologies but I am pretty naive in matters related to Computers.Could you please help me with a step-by-step process to

a) Change the saving settings in the utility Excel sheet so that the xml File gets saved to the "DESKTOP" and not to a temporary folder

b) enable the hidden files and folders in C drive.

I truly appreciate your efforts to bail me out.

In order to change the saving setting in Excel and net brower

In Excel , Tools > Options > Save > Put your desktop in the path

If you are using firefox, go to Tools > Options > General > Save files on the desktop

Hidden files

Go to My Computer > Documents & Settings > Administrator > Local Settings > Temp > there you will find the folder.

Go to Documents & Setting folder, click on tools > Folder Options > View and enable hidden files.

May be doing the same in some other system with different version of office, can work. I have encountered some issues with windows 7, so just try the same with some other version of office, you might get the answer.

folllow the steps

first of all save your e filing form in any drive like D ,E ,F etc ok

complete all particular of form and validate them

then click on save xml ,it will automatically save file in your selected drive where your e filing form is saved

if u r not able to see then in the drive folder click on the folder options then select show hide files and folders try karo waise xml file hidden nahi hoti

Dear Mihir,

Many thanks. The file was indeed hidden and on unhiding the same, could access the file.

Just for my knowledge-though I tried to make "Desktop" as the default saving destination in Excel(using the method suggested by you),the ITR xml file still gets saved in the temporary file only.where am I going wrong?[I have Excel 2003 and Windows XP in my Computer]

I also sincerely thank the others who took time out to help me.
