Outstanding Tax by AO

Hello,

I have an outstanding tax notified by an AO from Andhra Pradesh. Now my pan address has changed and a new AO is assigned.

Do the new AO has the authorization to close the case opened by previous AO?

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses whether a new Assessing Officer (AO) can close a tax case initiated by a previous AO, especially after a change in PAN address. The consensus is that a new AO can indeed close the case if no application or response is currently pending. However, if there is a pending notice, the tax must be paid.

Yes, only if your application/response is pending.

Yes if no case was pending
PAY THE TAX IF THERE IS A PENDING NOTICE.
