Can any body inform how does the AO verify the tax credit of tax payer at the assessment stage. Is it through 26AS or OLTAS. Or there is any other internal mechanism. Is OLTAS different from 26AS. If so, how.

Form 26 AS provides the details of tax deducted/paid on your pan account.
Where as oltas provide the details of challan paid. You can verfiy your challan payment through oltas portal. It is just to check.
Most Important: The details under 26 AS regarding TDS deducted will be accurate and right only if, correct TDS return is filled by the deductor.
