Mediclaim policy

Dear Sir / Madam,

Please clarrify my doubt

An Individual (male) has taken mediclaim policy on his name  to cover himself &  his family members (wife and  minor son).

My queation is who will take deduction u/s 80d. because both are tax payers.

please do the needful

Payer of mediclaim premium can take deduction. i.e. Individual and not family member.
