To Lock a folder in windows XP without any software. Follow the steps Below.

Make a Folder in C drive rename it as “abc” without quotes.
Now open Command Prompt from Start Menu.
Type “attrib +s +h C:\abc” without quotes and press enter.
This command will Make your folder invisble and it can not be seen even in hidden files and folders
To make it visible again type “attrib -s -h C:\abc”

can this be done in windows 7 professional(ulimate)??

THIS IS NOT LOCKING DEAR, THIS IS U R MAKING YOUR FOLDER INVISIBLE ONLY. iT`s IS A MS-DOS COMMAND EARLIER USED FREQUENTLY..... wORK IN ALL VERSIONS IF COMMAND PROMPT IS THERE. THE FOLDER WOULD BE SHOWN, ONCE YOU CHANGE THE VISIBILITY INTO SHOW HIDDEN FOLDER , BUT IT LOOK FEDED.

I m using windows 7 ultimate x86, it has inbuilt bit locker. thats vry safe.
