Itr2 - error on uploading xml ay19-20

Efiling 612 views 9 replies

I tried to upload my XML for ITR2 for AY19-20 on the income tax website but it gave me this error - "At line number 257: Invalid content was found starting with element 'ITRForm:DeductionUs54F'. One of  {"https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/master":ExemptionOrDednUs54}' is expected.

I only have interest income from savings account which has been put under 'income from other sources' and everything else is nil. All below taxable limit and hence no tax payable either.

Can someone help?

Then file ITR 1 if have only IOS.

As regards error I was also getting same for my ITR2. It got solved. Under CG Schedule under B d 1 select 54F and enter amount as zero. Then save XML and upload .

Same error with other ITR2 which has salary, capital gains (LT loss) on sale of equity shares and income from other sources. Any suggestions?

I tried this but now the sheet asks me to fill in details for 54F. Now?

Just put amount zero against all 54F

I will elaborate further

Go to Schedule CG

       Sr No          Section                               Amount

Now save XML and  upload .

Any further clarification welcome. Seems to be some bug in the utility

Thank you all for your help. I was using a version from 10 days back and that's why it was giving me weird errors. I downloaded the latest version today and it all got uploaded without a hitch.

I knew since I didn't have anything u/s54F, there was no need to fill it - just needed the new version of the ITR.

Hello . Latest version is that of 12 Jul for JAVA and 11 Jul for Excel. Even these versions were giving same validation errors. Once I did as per my post above no errors and uploaded successfully. Under LTGC 54F as above put 0 it did not ask me further details and since LTCG is 0 it wont make any difference technically.
