Steps to Resolve the Issue

  • Check GST portal for any pending notices or demands and respond promptly through the official portal.

  • If any notices are pending, reply or clear outstanding dues immediately—notice replies and payments are tracked electronically.

  • File GSTR-10 (Final Return) if not already done, as this is mandatory after cancellation.

  • Gather and maintain all records of return filing, payment challans, cancellation order, and communication with the department for evidence.

  • If attachment is unjustified or dues are wrong, contact the GST department in writing and consider approaching the jurisdictional officer or filing a grievance or appeal.

  • If previous departmental letters were not received, mention this in any official response and update contact/address details on the GST portal.

Recommended Actions
  • File GSTR-10 if not already filed.

  • Clear any pending dues or respond to notices via GST portal.

  • Contact GST officer or file a grievance if bank attachment is due to old communications not received physically.

Bank Account Attachment typically occurs due to outstanding tax dues, penalties, or non-response to notices (even if they weren’t received by the taxpayer).
If the registration was "suo moto" cancelled by the GST officer (department action), it is crucial to respond and settle any pending issues, as the department retains powers to recover previous liabilities via bank account attachment.
