Is this for what we work hard day & night???

I didn't apply in any of the big 4's.

Like all ,I too was obsessed about getting a chance of articleship in the big 4's.

This is a thread made by me 11months ago,I hadn't cleared IPCC then.You see that thread was quite popular.It has 59 replies,got me lot of thanks.

But,Later I came across stories like the one you have mentioned...about finding "jugaad".

And also heard lot of other things....which really pissed me off.

So I had made up my mind not to apply in any of the big 4's.....and as far as other firms are concerned...don't think about those firm who didn't select you!

You and I both know it's their loss not to have an article like you.you're a gem.

I think the answer is that we work day and night to improve ourselves...We don't work day and night to get exploited by big firms....We work day and night to learn something new.

Beleive in yourself.....if we have the potential....we will reach the top!! you don't need big 4's to make or break your future.

Your future lies in your hands,and will always be!

This is very true.  A lot of students are waiting for the call who have no reference in big 4s .

I tell u my story Raunak , I even dropped my SRCC for this practical training, but now nobody called me. 

I have no jugaad in big4 directly but i am still trying my best. 

Dont lose your hope Raunak.

No issues man ;) just dont take it soo personally .. they fail to realize our hardwork . even my experience was the same being a rank holder ..they made me wait for 2 months to give offer letter. I had almost lost hopes of joining Big4 . Only when i decided not to join big4 , i received my offer letter . I made it a point to tell the hr that i've lost interest to join . She was surprised at my gesture . I was called for a personal discussion . I made them realize that v r not dogs waiting for our food and walked out .

M happy not to have joined that company . Cheer up. You can always get back and join big4 post qualification. concentrate on Fianls now .

I really liked the reply posted by Amar Sharma. Make one thing very clear. The big 4 are not the end in themselves. Eventually, some of my friends who have worked in Big4 have been quite disgusted and have left them sooner or later. The latest example is a very close friend of mine who has left one of the big 4 after reaching the level of Director, and would have proceeded to become a partner in about a year or two. I myself was interviewed at both PWC and EY, and now have several friends there but never did chose to work for them ever. In your case, it is not necessary that you can have a smashing career only if you join big4 or articleship, or start your career with them. Sometime later on in your life/career, you would realise that there is life outside of big 4, and that life is bigger, better and more remunerative both economically and for your satisfaction levels. So as Amar says, you study day and night to improve yourself, to learn and become more useful for the society. And anyone who is useful to the society will always have good opportunities to serve the society, and also be paid well for that. And as I have discovered in my case, having done an articleship with a medium sized firm, the experience and knowledge which I gained has been tested time and again to be far better than what I would have got at a big 4. And my career has not been bad either. The grass is always greener on the other side. Once you reach the big 4 and the inital euphoria dies down, you would find that being in a smaller firm, but one which teaches you a lot more about life and practicalities of the world, would be a better place to spend 3 years which are so critical for anyone at this stage. Agreed, the big 4 have so comprehensive procedures and control points, that you learn a lot, but you can learn perhaps more if you chose your audit firm wisely. All the best.

You are right Raunak even I have passed IPCE both groups in first attempt and struggling for a place in good CA firms as an article. Students who have cleared only a single group and even that one in second attempt have joined these big CA firms just because they had some reference. I think this one is really a big issue that students like us don't get a good firm. So we should complain ICAI about this.
