A/c entries 1025 views 4 replies

Hello Friends, I am an IPCC Group-1 Student, I will give my exam in november attempt, bur before that I want to know from you experienced guys who have cleared the IPCC that  can I use abbreviations or short forms in solving accounts and tax paper

for example-

can I write simply " PC " in questions instead of writing repeatedly  " Purchase Consideration " ??

or

can I write simple " ISC " i.e ( Insured Standing Charges ) ??

Will it be proper to give the full form once say in a box and then using such appreviations or short forms  or will it put adverse effect on marks  ??

Also please tell me that while writing narration of journal entries

for example-

say equity shares of10 each are reduced to4 each

then can i simplY write it -

Equity share capital a/c dr.

         to equity share capital a/c

         to capital reconstruction a/c

being equity share capital reduced )

Also please tell a last one too that prior to exam, which sample papers should I follow, Are there any sample papers of ICAI himself are avilable in the market or they have to bought from their ICAI Bhawan, Delhi  ??

Please guide about these aspects to me

Never prefer abbreviations,

Examiner's will not be reading our papers like novel i.e., with a lot of interest.

They will be targeted to complete these many papers per day and so on.

Your abbreviations might irritate them and might confuse them. Sometimes it may lead to mis-interpretations as well. Hence it is advised not to use abbreviations.

The pattern or preference of allotting marks will be, on how the examiner understood our answer rather than how beautifully we wrote the paper.

So be careful and for preparation try practice manuals issued by ICAI.
