Hi Readers,

If you are wondering how to crack into an Investment Bank right after your CA then here are the Top 3 Things you can do:

1- Do courses in Financial Modeling

Investment Banking is all about your ability to understand the business model of a company and put it to work in a dynamic excel format. Since you are already aware about the technicalities in accounts and finance, learn how to build dynamic models by taking online courses through vlurn.com, coursera.org, lynda.com or any other source. It will help build work-ready and on-ground skills.

2- Use LinkedIn effectively

Make your profile and start looking for tags like 'Investment Banking', 'Investment Advisory' or 'Capital Advisors' on LinkedIn to find small scale companies as well. You can further list down your city to make sure you apply at the right places. Be sure to update your Profile Title as many HR Managers are just waiting for freshly qualified people and constantly searching on LinkedIn!

3- Build your Offline Network

Investment Banking is all about Networking! Try to reach out to your seniors, industry professionals and experts by attending conferences and seminars. VCC Circle does a lot of seminars on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&As). This will help you engage and connect with leading professionals and get first-hand tips on how to enhance your career!

Finally, we spoke to a CA who got into a Boutique Investment Bank in Mumbai. Read more about his journey here:
