Inquiry about CS Training

CS 194 views 1 replies

I talked with few PCS where one firm is engage in Insolvency related assignments & their Co- firm is engaged in secretarial compliances but not LODR.

Another firm which is engaged in core secretarial compliances unlisted & Private companies. FEMA.

Third one is engaged in Secretarial Audit, FEMA, And few aspects of LODR.

Which firm should i select ?

As i understood in one firm all things i will not get such as M & A's , LORD, FEMA, & Core secretarial .

I am confused what to do , as it is there in my mind that if anything i will not do in training so how will i do it in future if such assignment comes to me is it so?

Or such skills can be acquired such as LODR Compliances

. Kindly guide me.

Thanks in Advance

Hey Ashwani, this is a pretty common dilemma when choosing CS training firms, especially because different firms focus on different areas of company secretarial practice.

Here’s my take to help you decide:

  1. Broader Exposure vs. Specialization:

    • If you join a firm that focuses on a niche area (like Insolvency or FEMA), you’ll get deep knowledge and hands-on experience in that domain but might miss out on others like LODR or M&A.

    • On the other hand, firms that handle a wide range of secretarial compliances (including LODR, core secretarial work, M&A, FEMA) may give you a broader exposure but perhaps less depth initially.

  2. Skill Acquisition:

    • Many skills, like LODR compliances or M&A, can be learned later through online courses, workshops, or short-term projects if you don’t get exposure during training.

    • However, practical hands-on experience during training is invaluable because it builds confidence and understanding of nuances.

  3. Future Career Focus:

    • Think about your career goals. If you want to become an expert in, say, Insolvency, it’s better to pick the first firm.

    • If you want a more generalist CS role with exposure to multiple areas, the third firm (with Secretarial Audit, FEMA, and LODR) might be better.

  4. Duration of Training:

    • Training period is limited, so it’s difficult to get expertise in everything during this time.

    • You can plan to specialize or upskill later through experience or certifications.

My suggestion:
Choose a firm that offers a good balance, with at least some exposure to LODR and core secretarial work, because these are foundational and in demand. You can always supplement other skills later.

Also, while training, be proactive—ask to assist or observe in assignments outside your core work area. Many firms are open to giving trainees exposure if you show interest.
