Impact of excess leave on ca final attempt

Articleship 7459 views 5 replies

Hello all,

Please solve my query as soon as possible-

I served as an article in a firm from 16.04.2012-10.04.2013. Leave-30 days

Joined new firm on 24.04.2013 and currently working here.Leaves till now-10 days

Planning to go for Industrial training in 3rd year of articleship ie after 28.04.2013.

My attempt is due in nov 2014.

I am also planning to take 5-6 months leave for coaching +PL

So this will result in excess leaves. My question is can excess be covered by working for extra hours in industrial training and without extension of articleship period? THE MAIN THING IS I DONT WANT MY ATTEMPT TO GET EXTENDED. Please Guide!

Dear Radhika,

The total leave allowed to you is 1/6th of the total period which comes to about 180 days. If at all you exceed this period, you will have to unfortunately take an extension….

No, you cannot compensate the leave by working excess hours, unless there is a system of complimentary off in your firm…

But I am afraid you will get 5-6 months leave in a company if you are planning to do Industrial Training…

Incase you have any doubt, feel free to ask..

ICAI allows maximum of 1/6th of the leaves of the working Days..

Approximately 156 Days of leave is allowed,

If it crossed then you have to serve the remaining period,

However, in between if your leave is excess towards completion of 2.5 years of articleship then it might cause you in delay of your attempt..

You can go thru this for complete guidance on this...

regards,

does the principle has to state the exact leaves on exam form or only yes/no about whether one is eligible or not?

Already mentioned if you articleship period is not less than 2.5 years including leaves allowed then you can write in Nov,2014..

However, You have to serve atleast 9 months in Industrial Training...

The Range of Industrial training is between 9-12 months...

Thanks for your prompt replies
