Yes there is facility of checking status of IEC code on following site,

https://dgft.gov.in/dgftcla/faqs.asp

But, same is not guaranteed because it is depend upon site updation by DGFT.

Ashish, normally you can submit your applications in the morning and you will get to know the status of the preliminary check of the forms ONLY by visiting the concerned dgft office again, in the evening.

You cannot check this status online. To my knowledge, you can view IEC certificate (and not the status of application) online by giving the IEC number, which will take around one week from the date of accepting the IEC application (ie, once the number is allotted)
