I am a resident of city A.
All of my details including passport, PAN includes details like address of city A.
I shift to city Z for employment or a new business.I'll be staying here for some 5-6 years.
Do i update my PAN?
Can the A.O from city A pick my return for scrutiny?
Will i then have to travel all the way to city A for scrutiny..
Also since my residence has temperorily shifted, am i required to intimate or inform the department.
Please also provide any other information you think is relevant.

It is better to get ur new address updated in the PAN and IT office records. This is important because as u said if any proceeding is initiated in City A u have no option but to attend it there. Also since now even mailing is based on PAN based data, ur Assessment orders, refunds notices etc may go to your old address at City A and u may miss them.
