An individual has salary income & want to claim HRA deduction.
Flat is in the name of grand father & is expired. His Father also expired. An individual staying with mother.
He is receiving HRA allowance. Now can he pay rent to mother & claim deduction for it.

YES HE CAN CLAIM. BECAUSE HERE THE SECTION ONLY DEALS WITH RENT PAID
NO, he can not claim deduction because he is living in the same city where he is having the flat and job.
If he has a job in another city, and pays the rent actually then he is eligible for HRA deduction.
