Can any guide me whether it is necessary to file Original Rent Receipts / Photocopies of Rent Receipts to Employer for claiming exemption of HRA Component in salary?
My Employer is asking me to file original rent receipt to be filed with him for claiming HRA Exemption else my entire HRA shall be taxable.
I am payment rent per month but I cannot file original rent receipts.
I have come to know that there has been recent ruling of Hon'ble Supreme Court that Rent Receipts are not required to be filed as discussed above.
