Quick Summary
A salaried woman jointly owns a home with her father, has a home loan in her name, and lives in a rented property in the same city after marriage. The query is whether she can claim both HRA and home loan interest deductions. The general rule is that HRA is claimable if you pay rent for accommodation where you reside, and home loan interest is deductible for a property you own. While staying in the same city as the owned property can complicate things, it might be permissible if commuting from the rented home to work is difficult.

She can with the reason, if it is difficult to commute from house to the workplace.

The eligibility to claim HRA deduction is that the assessee should be staying in a rented house and he should be paying the rent in which she is staying
