You Should go throw Sec.10(13A) of I.T.act 1961
To claim HRA rental agreement is not required. zonly the rent payment recipts required to submitt to Employer. In section 10(13a) does not say any thing about the peocedures but says only the limits to avail the allowance.
there is no rent agreement is required. only rent receipt is required for claiming exemption. however , rent receipt is required only when you claim rent paid more than Rs.3000.it means no reqiurement of evidence if u pays rent upto Rs. 3000

Employee owns house and  he stays on rent in another house; whether  HRA received by him will be exempt or not if

a) his own house is vacant or

b) his own house is let out

I would like to know if there is any circular which states that if you are paying rent upto a certain amount, than agreement copy is not required.

I would like to know, if there's any circular which states to claim HRA benefit, if rent paid is upto a certain amount, no agreement is required.
