To provide benefit of export sales, VAT authorities always ask sample documentation in relation with export sales such as copy of invoices, bill of lading, proof of receipt of payment etc etc depending on State to State VAT authorities.

Yes u have to provide proof of export documents,  since the documents may reveal the client information.  Dealers generally give only the Bill of Lading or Airway Bill towards proof of export no need to submit the Invoice,  if ST Dept. insist for Invoice then deface the critical client information like customer name, price etc.
