Dear Loganathan,

The threshold limit under GST for services in Rs. 20 lakh. Therefore, he need not register as yet.

What is the turnover?
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the taxpayers with an aggregate turnover of Rs 40 lakh would now be exempted from the GST. For the north eastern states, the exemption would now be Rs 20 lakh. Currently, businesses with a turnover of up to Rs 20 lakh is exempt from GST registration, while the limit for hilly and north eastern states is Rs 10 lakh.

The 40 lakh limit is eligible only for goods, and not services. And it is not yet effective. (Proposed to be from 1st April 2019 - thru notification)

Agree with above replies..
But you can take gst registration on voluntarily basis if you wish to do so.

Dear Mr.Akshay,

Thanks for your immediate response and information.

Dear Mr.Vinod,

If GST voluntarily taken?, whether you have to file the Monthly NIL return or no need to file the return?

Returns to be filed as per requirement even if NIL. (NIL returns in GST means NIL taxes).

Outward exempt & Non-GST supplies (if any) to be filled in GSTR 3B

Exempt & Non-GST Inward supplies (if any) to be shown in GSTR 3B

Documents details still require to be filled in GSTR 1. (Outward + Delivery Challans + Inward RCM)

Ensure Registration is accurate, and all provisions under GST are complied with, if not a general penalty under Sec 125 may be applicable. (Rs. 50,000).

Therefore, where not required suggested not to register voluntarily under GST, unless it is a business requirement.

Dear Mr.Akshay,

You have provided a very clear information ....thanks a lot.
