Is GST Registration required if one gets commission below 20 lacs from interstate

No it is not required. However, you can always volunteer to get the registration in case you want to take ITC etc.
Yes in case of commission income u hv to take mandatory registration irrespective of threshold limit and inter state sale... Plz refer section 24 of cgst act
