Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the correct accounting treatment for purchasing a new SSD hard drive for a computer. The consensus is to debit the 'Computer and Peripherals' account as it's a capital expenditure. The GST paid on the purchase can be claimed as input tax credit. The suggested accounting entry is to debit 'Computer and Peripherals' and credit 'Cash/Bank'.

You should debit computer and peripherals.
You should debit the computer and peripheral account
Debit computer and peripherals.
Credit cash/bank
Computer and Peripherals A/c...Dr
To Cash/Bank A/c
( Being hard-disk purchased for Computer ).

It's a Capital Expenditure.

Also debit gst input ?
