Gazetted officer - notary public ?

Hi all, I applied for PAN Card and there is a discrepency in the documents. They require a Verification letter signed by a Member of Parliament/Member of Legislative Assembly Municipal Councillor or Gazetted Officer under sub rule (4) of rule 114 of the Income tax Rules, 1962. Does this mean a Notary public has the authority to sign the document ?

Yes, notary public is a gazetted officer.

Notary Public are appointed under the provisions of Notary Act. Though they are not public servant as other Gazetted Officer but they are empowered to attest and certify, documents  instruments and administer oath under the provisions of said Act

can group B gazetted officer attest the document, like principle of govt school?

than you..

Notary Public, was rejected

Hi Vignesh Ayya,

Even my PAN card change required Gazetted Officer signature, but Notary signature and ID proof was rejected. Did you find another way to deal with this issue.

Thanks

Teja
