I would like to know, is it advisable to deal or work with the firm which is registered under ICAI but not registered as company in MCA portal. Can any firm tender their service like this? how is it possible?
I was under impression that, all firms needs to be registered with MCA, isnt this case here as well???

Only Company can register themselves on the MCA & not the firms.
If the firm is regd. with ICAI, then the firm owner shall have the Unique membership no. given by the ICAI.
Moreover, you can ask from him the client list.
You can check the bank statement & can decide also.
You can check the PAN no. of the firms also.
In india, almost 95% firm do not register themselves. Because registration of firm is not compulsory.
