Finance Minister says current inflation is growth driven

Replying on the discussion on rise in prices of essential commodities in the Parliament, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that current inflation is growth driven and the government is taking fiscal and monetary steps to moderate the prices.

Finance Minister also informed Parliament that government has not raised the issue prices of commodities under PDS since 2001, and strongly pulled up state governments to address the problem of delivery in public distribution system.
