FILING ITR of FY 2018-2019 in current year

Hi everybody,

If we have not filled Income tax return for the FY 2018-2019 .Is there any possibility to file the same now ? I have come across one answer that it can be filed only with permission of the jurisdictional AO . Please quote the relevant section and your opinion on the same

Quick Summary
It's generally not possible to file an Income Tax Return for FY 2018-19 (Assessment Year 2019-20) after the deadline has passed. However, there's a possibility to file a late return by applying under Section 119(2)(b) of the Income Tax Act to the jurisdictional Principal Commissioner or Commissioner of Income Tax. This requires providing satisfactory reasons for the delay, and approval is at their discretion.

No you cannot file return for AY 2019-20 now as date was already over. But filing can be done by getting approval from CIT
As per current trend in the way commissioners behave, i dont think it will be fruitful to apply before a commissioner. time limit for scrutiny notice has also expired.
there is remote chance that you will receive a 148 notice. otherwise you could go scot free without filing return and without paying tax.
You should file an application u/s 119(2)(b) of the I.T. Act to the jurisdictional PCIT/CIT quoting the reasons for not filing the return timely. If PCIT/CIT will satisfy with your reasons he/she will pass a order for the same and in response to this order you can file your return for A.Y. 2019-20.
Agreed
