Quick Summary
A construction contractor in Delhi is seeking guidance on the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) requirements for daily wage labourers who work for only 1-2 months. The Supreme Court ruled in 2016 that even casual or part-time employees are covered under ESIC, making it mandatory for employers with 20 or more employees earning up to ₹15,000 per month.

As per a judgment by Supreme Court in 2016, employment of casual nature or where an employee is employed for part of the wage period will be covered in ESIC.
So part time employees will be covered under ESIC.
