Epf contribution

Plz clarify:

I need help on following points:

1. Employee contribution to EPF has been made voluntary in Union Budget 2015. Has this rule become applicable?

2. At many places I have read that Employer contribution will be calculated on the basis of threshold limit of maximum basic salary (i.e. 15000 now and 6500 earlier) irrespective of the fact that employee is getting higher basic salary. Suppose if employee is getting basic salary of 17000 then should we calculate employer share on Rs. 15000 or on Rs. 17000??

I think the threshold limit is for PF Applicability and not for calculation purpose. So PF will be calculated on 17000. Still wait for others to reply. :)

You have the option of choosing the PF contribution from min amount of Rs.1800/- (PF on restricted basic of Rs.15000/-) or 12% of actual basic
