Dear all my CA (student or qualified) friends of CCI,
I have a question to you. How many of you think that the duration of Articleship should be reduced to 18 months or maximum 2 years? I admit that practical experience is definitely very very important and necessary. But the duration is too long. I think there are sufficient reasons to reduce the period.
1) It leaves less time for students to study hard and prepare well for the exams.
2) To avoid this problem i.e. to prepare very well for exams, students choose dummy articleships which damages their future.
3) I have seen a number of qualified CAs who don't have basic practical knowledges though they have completed their articleship without dummy. So what's the use of it?
4) There are many firms who don't follow the office timings for the articles. Sometimes even I have to work at office till 7-30 to 8 pm.
5) Usually in small firms articles have to repeat same works year after year. In many cases there leaves nothing new to them to learn. So why 3 years?
