Hi. Is payment of admission in engineering college by parent eligible for deduction under 80C- Tuition Fees? If Payment is made by demand draft, will receipt be required to avail deduction?

Yes. Only the tuition fee paid for full time course is eligible for deduction u/s. 80C. Other expenses, such as transport charges, library charges, hostel charges, development fees or donation, are not covered.

Keep receipt as proof, if case of any query raised.

Fee for appearing in examination is also eligible for deduction?

No

I also have a query regarding tuition fees!

can fees paid for a 15 days course by a doctor regarded as tuition fees and claimed by his parent u/s 80C as tuition fees , if that fees is paid by the father?
That course is done by a General Surgeon for learning laproscopy.... way of doing surgeries.

@ Pooja: Generally full time courses are considered for 80C deductions. But if the course you have mentioned is recognised by any recognised university as degree or diploma (& not certification) course, than you can claim such deduction.

ok thank you Sir!

That means it does not matter that the son js dependent or independent in the case of tuition fees?

I mean to say it is allowed for children only na..

"I mean to say it is allowed for children(upto 2) only na..  "
