Doubt in investment

Wat will be d effects to be given when rights issued by any Company r renounced by d investor?? As acc to AS13 it should be credited to profit and loss account, while in some books it was written that it should be adjusted with the cost of the investment?? Pl help, in my ipcc exam which effect should be given if that particular adjustment comes in exam
