Hello all,

as i have not filed my salaried incometax return for the financial year 2010-11, but all taxes are paid through TDS(Advance Tax). My question is can i file my return today ??

please reply soon its really urgent..

You can file it now but a penalty for late filing of return might be levied under section 271F because you did not file it before 31/03/12 (the end of the Assessment year 2011-12)

Income tax return can be filed within 1 year from the end of relevant assessment year or before completion of assessment whichever is earlier . For Financial year 2010-2011 the Assessment year is 2011-2012 and you can file the return with in one year from 2012 i.e 31st march 2013 .

In my view, penalty of Rs 5000/- may be levied for filing the return after 31/03/12 (not after 31/03/13)
