PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING CERTIFICATION AS A 100% EOU

This document describes the procedure for obtaining certification as a 100% EOU.

1.) Who can be certified as a 100% EOU?

Any unit engaged in IT Hardware or Software can be certified as a 100% EOU subject to fulfillment of

required export obligations. Units would require to be registered as IT units (please see the section on

‘Registration of IT units’).

100% EOU’s are under the overall charge of Development Commissioners for Special Export Zones

(SEZ’s). Thus, units desiring to be designated as 100% EOU’s in Maharashtra would require to approach

the following office:

2. Documents to be submitted?

Project Report

The list of additional documents required for certification as a 100% EOU would be available with the

office of the Development Commissioner, SEEPZ.

Registration Certificate as an IT Software / Hardware unit
3. What are the facilities available to a 100% EOU?

The 100% EOU scheme was introduced in 1981 and was intended to compliment the Export Processing

Zones (EPZ’s). Thus, 100% EOU’s enjoy all the facilities provided to EPZ’s, with the further advantage of

being able to locate anywhere, even outside the EPZ’s.

Some of the key facilities provided to 100% EOU’s are:

Exemption from customs duty on capital equipment, raw material, machinery components,

No license required for imports.
