Hi

Question 1

Does a purchaser receive goods before or after the date of invoice?

When is invoice prepared by seller?

 

Question 2

If supplier issues an invoice dated 1-4-2013 but we receive it on 5-4-2013, then in tally while entering purchase which date will we enter?

 

Question 3

If supplier invoice no is 512 and we prepare an accounting voucher for the same and enter it in tally.

then in tally which no will we enter 512 or accounting voucher no? or do we enter supplier invoice no in accounting voucher?

That depends on the situation. Receipt of goods before or after receipt of invoice doesnt matter. 

When is invoice prepared by seller?

Invoice is prepared by the seller at the time of sale after he receives the order from the customer.

Purchase date is 1.4.2013. The date should be taken as per the invoice not as per receipt of goods, but the date of receipt of goods could be explained in narration.

As we purchase goods we enter voucher number as per our own transactions on that particular date and the voucher number of sale invoice raised by seller will be mentioned in naration or in th e additional SUPPLIER'S DETAILS while entering the naration

Usually The Purchase of Goods Entry will be

When Goods Received First

Inventory A/c       -DR

     TO GRIR A/C 

After Invoice Receipt

GRIR A/C      -DR

      To Vendor A/C

you Can Follow the opposite Entry for Invoice Received First

 

And The Date of Entry is Invoice Date

I think GRIR means Goods-receipt/Invoice-Receipt

Question No. 3

You can make  reference of the supplier's invoice number in Tally to track the payment. But voucher no should be as per own record.
